BORDER OPENING STATUS

The New Zealand borders are open to all visa free international tourists since May 2. All visitors need to be vaccinated but there is no quarantine required on arrival.

We have created a series of new itineraries based on our own backyard, where we offer our usual "best of best" but where we add something new and different, a hiking/trekking experience, usually of 2-3 nights, in a remote part of New Zealand where you will be able to shed the cell phone and wifi and just hear silence, just for a few days. It will do you a world of good!

This is our third of four "kiwi treks" itineraries , called the Humpridge Track. Our itinerary this time focuses on the South Island mostly, starting in Auckland for a few days but then we fly right away to the bottom of the South Island to start your adventure.

This is no ordinary trek. If you were to select each component that makes New Zealand uniquely New Zealand and bundle them up together you would end up with the Humpridge. A perfect mix of coastal beaches, native forests and alpine vistas. And as with anything in New Zealand, these spectacular sights must be earned. A grand total of 67 kilometres over three days paired with a serious elevation gain of 913 meters means this trek is not for the faint of heart. Walking through the giant ferns and moss covered trees transports you into the Lord of the Rings and though the relentless climb on the first day may be challenging, the views watching the sunset on top of a mountain in Fiordland provides a worthy reward. Walk through forests so populated with native birds that their song becomes deafening. Converse with a curious New Zealand Robin whilst marvelling at an alpine plant’s resilience. Relieve your sore feet on sandy beaches and swim with a resident population of one of the world’s smallest dolphins. On either side of the walk, explore New Zealand’s southern coastline on the lookout for penguins and recuperate in one of the country’s top luxury lodge’s situated on the spectacular Lake Wakatipu.

We have no set days or dates on this itinerary, it all depends on how much or how little time you have at your disposal. All you need to know is the hike is one way so you will never encounter hikers coming the opposite way and you will have a trekking guide with you. Each group departure . Each night you will sleep in forest lodge with showers, twin bed rooms and all your meals are looked after. BUT it also means the dates we can arrange for you to be on the hike will decide the rest of the itinerary dates. And, of course, when possible we can book the whole track just for your group and make it exclusive.
