BORDER OPENING STATUS

Indonesia’s international borders are open. Most vaccinated visitors from the United States and Europe will be flying in to Bali as gateway where no quarantine is required for vaccinated travellers. Travels to specific islands may require adjustments as regulations change all the time but travel has re-started in Indonesia.

Shaped as an anchor, Indonesia sweeps over 3200 miles end to end (the same distance as London-Tehran), contains 6000 inhabited islands (17,000 islands in total) and totals over 225 million people split into 4 main religions and over 200 distinct groups and languages. This country is BIG. And yet, over 94% of all tourists who come to Indonesia go to one island only...Bali. And although we will be the first to say that Bali is gorgeous, we will also say you have not seen anything. Once again, we decided to design an itinerary not limited by time or "been there/done that" syndrome, and we focused on creating a story that would take you west to east, across a few of those 17,000 islands while attempting to give you an idea why this archipelago has been at the centre of so much trade, history and drama around the world. This will be a story of volcanoes, spices and dragons. Where we will take you from Java all the way to the Spice Islands, with stops in Bali, Flores and Sumba. You will experience some of the world's most incredible resorts and meet retired sultans. Learn about batik and Komodo dragons while snorkelling and diving along some of the richest coral reefs in the southern Pacific region. And at the same time realise the strategic importance of this country for the world's trade and how pepper and cinnamon became a source for incredible wealth in Europe. Indonesia is a land of incredible diversity but also one of unending paradoxes. Our itinerary is completely flexible, there are optional cruises and length of stays on islands depends on your schedule. Definitely a minimum of 2 weeks but we could keep you busy for much longer.

WHEN?

The best months to travel across Indonesia are between May till mid-October for what we call the dry season.

HOW LONG

This itinerary is very flexible, it all depends on how much time you have, a minimum of 2 to 3 weeks should be fine but if you want to add the optional cruise, we would need to fit in the scheduled dates of the ship.

WHERE DOES IT START

This itinerary starts and finishes in Jakarta , however we can also design the itinerary from Bali

DID YOU KNOW

The country is 2nd, after Brazil, with the highest level of biodiversity in the world. Indonesia also has the largest 'young' population in the world with 165 million people under the age of 30.
