LAGOONS OF THE COOK ISLANDS
Picture yourself if you will, you are in the Cook Islands, on what is described as the most beautiful lagoon in the Pacific, surrounding the small island of Aitutaki. You’re floating under the stars watching the Southern Cross, Sirius, Deneb, Vega and Altair while listening to a local explain how his ancestors navigated under the same stars sailing weeks on end to new destinations.
Many say the Cook Islands are what Hawaii was 75 years ago in terms of untouched charm and beauty (but with all the modern conveniences). If you like water sports, marine reserves, cultural surprises and sleeping volcanoes, this is a destination just for you, off the usual beaten paths of South Pacific.
The destination is idyllic in the best kind of way. Rediscover the Robinson Crusoe in you (without the shipwreck and the hardships). Longitude 80 will find you a beautiful villa on a beachfront secluded cove, with a magnificent lagoon view and decks stepping right on to the white coral sand beach. Our itinerary includes the Cook's top two luxury resorts and we have a host of amazing experiences in store to keep you occupied unless all you want to do is float in gin clear waters. The choice is yours.
The Cook Islands offer you perfect beaches, deep jungle and coral lagoons. Each of its 15 islands seems more breathtaking than the last. Take romantic strolls on the beach, indulge in a couples’ massage or spa treatment, or relish a romantic beachfront dining experience in a private “Island-style” tent. We focus of course on Rarotonga and Aitutaki but we also can arrange a few nights in some of the most remote islands for a true South Pacific experience with welcoming locals. Land on a sand strip and meet the whole island's population.
Sign up for thrilling kite surfing lessons over turquoise lagoons, followed by leisurely cycling along the island’s only coastal road earning friendly waves from residents. Join a local chef at vibrant produce markets, selecting fresh tropical ingredients before indulging in a private cooking experience. Feel the soulful warmth of the community during a Sunday church service filled with harmonious island hymns. Dive into crystalline waters to glide alongside graceful eagle rays and sea turtles, or paddle board through serene inlets as the sun sets. Cap off your days with scenic hikes through lush jungle trails, leading to breathtaking mountain peaks that offer panoramic views of this unspoiled haven.
No traffic lights, no McDonald’s and no building taller than a coconut tree. Paradise.

WHEN?
If sunny skies and minimal rainfall is a requirement then we recommend visiting between the months of June to August.
HOW LONG?
We recommend 7 days for the two islands but can cater to your needs.
WHERE DOES IT START?
Starts and finishes on the island of Rarotonga, home to the only international airport in the Cook Islands.
DID YOU KNOW?
While the islands are named after Captain James Cook, he never actually visited Rarotonga!
